Meet the two Oloris of Alaafin Of Oyo, who are bestfriends (photos)

By Sewe Ishola,

There have been reasons for double celebrations in the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III as he and his Oloris have welcomed two sets  of twins in recent times.

The Oloris, who have now become Iya Bejis are Olori Memumat Adeyemi, who welcomed a set of twin girls and Olori Badirat Adeyemi, who welcomed a set of boy twins.

Interestingly, they are  very friendly towards each other, given they are co-wives. They are in fact besties and do not hesitate to show off their friendship on social media.

They constantly share photos of each other on social media with encouraging words.

In a recent post on Instagram, Olori Memunat wrote “My bestie!! God gat us, May good things fall on us!!” In another, she wrote “We gat each other’s back”.

See pictures of the Oloris below:

  1. Am sick to my stomach. These kids are young enough to be his grand daughters. This is paedophilic act. I am ashamed of Alaafin’s careless attitude. We will he ever subscribe to his grand daughters sleeping with or married to an eighty year old man?

    1. Sick to your stomach? Really? Most men of these days can barely manage effectively their one wife, so it takes more than the ordinary to do what the IKu baba yeye is doing in my humble opinion. Some believe in one wife and numerous…as they call it, side chicks…..very very few believe in one wife and no other women…and some like the alafin are true to themselves by letting all concerned that they are polygamists…whats wrong with that?

And Whats paedophillic about it? Are the ladies concerned kids? Are they not over 21? Isnt it a free world as you people say? You folks recognise the rights of people to be homosexuals…but at the same time turn up your noses at people who practice polygamy…

      1. You have lost the plot young man. In future stick to the facts. There was No mention of why Alaafin or criticism of Alafin’s many wives. The main point was tht those girls in their mid twneties are young enough to be his grand daughters. Homosexuality is abnormal, unbiblical, unscriptural, unAfrican, unnatural, sickening, despicable, immoral and unconventional so I have never supported the practice of it remotely or distantly. Will Alaafin encourage his grand daughters to sleep with or get married to eighty year old men. I am in my mid 60s and will NOT marry young girls in their mid twenties as it is immoral but rather woman not below 45 years of age. I remember vividly when late Ashamu brought young Lamidi Adeyemi an insurance clerk based in Lagos to Oyo to be installed as the next Alaafin in the early 70s. Is he getting married to youg girls in their mid twenties now going to make him younger or grow younger? It is a question of morals and what is befitting a first class Oba.

      2. You have lost the plot young man. in future stick to the facts and points being made in a comment. I never criticise Alaafin for having many wives which is polygamy but marrying girls in their mid tenties who are young enough to be his grand daughters. Will Alaafin be pleased with his 23 years old and 24 years old grand daughters sleeping with or get married to eighty year oldmen? I doubt. I have never ever directly or indirectly or remotely supported homosexuality and people who practice it because it is sinful, abnormal, unnatural, unscriptural, sickening, unAfrican, unbiblical, immoral, unethical and darkness which the end of it is death. So it is inappropriate and subjective of you to wrap me along with those who condone it. I am in my mid 60s and will never sleep with or marry a 24 year old young woman because it is not morally wright but I will rather tangle with a woman who is over 40 years of age. I remember vividly when late Chief Ashamu brought young insurance clerk Prince Lamidi Adeyemi from Lagos to be installed as Alaafin in the last year of the 60s / beginning of the 70s. Alaafin is a first class Oba and there are certain things that require decorum and command respect. Sleeping with and getting married to girls young enough to be his grand daughters will not make him grow younger or become ageless but hasten is demise because of the inherent factors.

        1. Thanks very much for your response sir and I recieve with grace, your advice to the extent that I should stick with facts………..Following from that, I should like to quote from your response, wherein you said….”Will Alaafin be pleased with his 23 years old and 24 years old grand daughters sleeping with or get married to eighty year oldmen? I doubt”…………now thats not particularly a statement of fact sir. Alaafin for all we know may just be at peace with such an occurrence. I also note that you used the word “unafrican” in some aspect of your response. To my mind, that means we are both in agreement that certain things are african by nature whilst others arent. I humbly put it to you that its always been very African and not unafrican for older men to marry much much younger girls. I am a man in my mid forties and I remember vividly that back in secondary school in the 80s, I read, from one of our school recommended literature text books of back then, whose name I now cant recall, the story of Sidiku who was a man in his 70/80s who married a young virgin and dis-
virgined her and was able to make her pregnant. The book even went t some extent to describe how sidiku had stunned most people by the fact of how very verile he was at that age. I recall vividly how very fascinated I was by the oddity of the story and how very much taken aback by it I had been and it stuck in my young mind for years afterwards, the teachers attempts to make light of it all to us young ones then.
I was also fascinated by his subsequent emphasis on the fact that men where never too old biologically to father children as I was of the mindset at that time that old people, men and women inclusive were incapable of making babies.

I also know for a fact that my Uncle, a very wealthy man at that time, in his late sixties at the time, married the last of his many wives who was 28 years old as of the time of the marriage…

Accordingly, I humbly think its wrong to conclude that its unafrican or unheard of for much older men to marry women in their mid twenties. Yes I accept that in this day and age, some might not agree with it, but that does not neccesarily make it wrong for isnt that how life has always been since the creation of time? That opinions are like navels and we all have one and they always differ from person to person! So each man to his own….so long as the said opinion or conduct or course of action being expressed by a particular individual has not been criminalised by the law of the land, then I think we should live and let live!

And yes I note that you mentioned that it might be morally wrong, but surely the criminal laws of our land are to a large extent a mirror of our society`s moral compass…and once again, if society felt it was morally wrong for an 80 year old to marry a woman in her mid twenties, then surely society would have agitated for such a conduct to be captured under the criminal law and criminalised…..as evidenced by the fact that in some climes, polygamy is a criminal offence..

        2. I like your exchanges and enjoyed reading them. But I add this :that it is not normal for a third party to decide to whom a young woman should get married. That’s the privilege of the woman ,the adult woman ,and the father – her father.

      3. Thank you, Free speech! Here’s what I told the masquerade called Oyetunji: You must be residing in heaven and visiting Mother Earth occasionally. Do you know the age of Abraham when his wife, Sarah, unable to conceive, asked Abraham to sleep with their housemaid to produce a child, which Abraham did? Men are sexually attracted to any beautiful adult female who is not of the same or nearly of the same blood (aunts, daughters, sisters, nieces, cousins…). If you don’t function like that, then you have aproblem and you must return immediately to heaven!
