How a street hawker landed Timaya his first N500,000

Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya has one of the most amazing grass to grace story. According to the ”Dem mama” crooner, it started out on one hot afternoon after the usual rounds of pubs with his CD to get night time DJ spins, then he decided to give hawkers on the streets copies for some day time distribution. One of the hawkers said casually to him, ”You for go meet ma senior brother make e sell more for you”

Timaya, though too tired to jump on a bus to go see some elder brother of a street hawker in his small kiosk in PH, but he listened, took the number and called.

To cut the long story, Danko, the elder brother, was not a small time retailer in PH but a big time marketer in Alaba, Lagos. That was how Timaya made his first half a million naira and then a second album went for N24m. This feat remains unbeaten in the history of Alaba sales.

Did you take note of how passively opportunity signalled to the singer? It did not need so much jamboree or paparazzi, just the mere words of a street boy!
