Kenya hospital names hospital ward after Peter Okoye

By Temitope Ojo

Peter Okoye of now-defunct P-Square, has had a hospital ward named after him in Nairobi, Kenya.

In a post to Instagram on Wednesday, the 36-year-old revealed that he took time off rehearsals to visit some cancer survivors at the hospital before his concert in the country.

He revealed that the experience was mind-blowing, adding that it is was a privilege to have a ward name after him in the centre.

“Had a mind-blowing experience listening to the stories of the cancer survivors and the good work the centre has been doing for thousands in the last eight years. It is also a privilege to have a ward in my name at the centre,” he wrote.

Cancer Hospital Texas Cancer Centre (TCC), in Makadara, Nairobi, opened the new cancer ward as part of its efforts to expand and increase its capacity to cater for more and more patients who visit the facility for treatment.

“What this hospital has done is take initiative instead of waiting for donors from the west to come and do it for Kenyans. It is truly remarkable that this hospital is growing without such help,” Peter noted during the opening.
