Lala Akindoju Tackles AGN Over Visit To Regina Daniels, Says There Are More Pressing Issues

Nigerian actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju, has called out the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for paying a courtesy visit to the home of Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko.

The actress and her politician husband recently welcomed their first child a baby boy together.

Days after the couple welcomed their baby, Emeka Rollas, AGN president, alongside some executives of body visited them.

The delegation then shared photos and video clips from the visit on various social media platform which had since gone viral across various social media platforms from the visit.

Reacting to the visit in a post on Monday, Akindoju alleged the visit was indicative of the AGN’s lack of leadership.

She said the AGN should be bothered about pressing issues affecting the movie industry rather it was shifting priorities to “less important” things.

“This is actually shameful. In these times where the actor’s guild should show leadership on pressing issues like navigating the industry with COVID-19, like creating structures to stop sexual harassment in the industry,” she wrote

“This is their priority. Even if you visit your member must you film and post? The videos we need to see about the future and safety of practitioners. Yet, they abuse us and insist that we join. Sigh!”

This is not the first time the leadership of the AGN would come under criticisms over its handling of issues affecting the body.

Hilda Dokubo, an actress, had in March also tackled the guild over the appointment of Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa north, as patron of the body.

Nwoko was appointed the chairman of the board of national patrons within the AGN in March.
