Audacity Born Out of Feminism: A Critical Review Of La Mode Fashion Brands’ “Audacious Woman Collection”

Giving a closer and more detailed look into La Mode Fashion Brand’s “Audacious Woman Collection”, with the aim of offering some meticulous and elaborate scrutiny with regards to its sense of originality, innovation, and a sense of purpose, I have used from my personal taste and vast knowledge of fashion and the fashion industry in relation to target audiences to create an algorithm to classify each piece from the collection, from most to least desirable.

In this review, I will focus on everything from styling, to hair and makeup, to accessories, and overall presentation of each piece. I will also be grading based on innovation and originality.
For a total summary, I will likewise present an overall percentage score based on judgments about each individual piece from the collection.

This holistic reading comes from my personal independent review based on my personal taste and vast knowledge of fashion and the fashion industry (As stated above).
I have used a grade scale created by Vanity Atelier 8 in 2021 to help create a clearer view of my rating of the collection to advance the artform.

LEGEND
OPT: Overall Personal Total, this metric takes into account all of the peripheral elements of a collection, including how outfits were styled, but does not judge the quality of the clothing itself.

OI: Originality and Innovation, this takes into account the newness of ideas and the freshness of their designs.

Individual Outfit Look: This takes into account grades for every individual look from the collection.

These are graded by “most desirable”, “indifferent/repeated”, and “undesirable”. Desirability is based on technical proficiency, overall beauty, initial impact, and close-up scrutiny of manufacture and craft.

Indifference is based on seeming boring or expected, Repeated is based on lack of originality with takes into account that a piece or the entire collection has been made before by another brand or is seemingly ubiquitous with only negligible alteration, this usually being material or color based, eg, the same jacket being reused numerous times only changing by material. Undesirable is based on a perceived technical error, examples being: bad color combinations, unsightly silhouettes or proportions, extraneous detracting elements, ugly materials, or upon view it produces an abashed effect.

The Audacious Woman Collection seems to be giving a unique form of emanation of audacity and sassiness in a space of authority and imperturbable tranquility. Showcasing a “Michelle Obama meet Bozoma Saint John” through attire becoming art.

A patterned “Blazer-like” outfit consisting of a top with short sleeves and a tie at the waist, along with matching trousers suggests a casual yet put-together look, possibly for a day out or a semi-formal event.

The choice of a green handbag which oozes an aura of rarity and class adds a pop of color to the ensemble. This ensemble suggests a coordinated and fashionable choice,

suitable for a work setting or a casual outing. The plaid pattern is a classic design that adds a touch of sophistication to the overall look.

The green handbag provides a pop of color that contrasts nicely with the outfit. The urban backdrop complements the modern feel of the attire.

The grey blazer with a pink and black animal leather print for the flap, which is also used as buckle detailing on the hand, and intelligently included in the waist belt used to complete the styling, adding a touch of color to the overall styling.

This ensemble suggests a professional setting, with the patterned lining of the blazer providing a subtle yet stylish detail that complements the overall look.

The choice of a gray color scheme is both classic and versatile, suitable for various business or formal events. The confident stance further enhances the professional appearance of the attire.

A black and white striped, long-sleeve, oversized top that extends to mid-thigh, creating a modern and relaxed silhouette, paired with black high-heeled shoes, adding an element of sophistication to the casual look. This ensemble is one of effortless style, suitable for a variety of occasions, from casual outings to more formal events.

The monochromatic palette is timeless, and the striped pattern is always in vogue. The outfit’s relaxed fit suggests comfort without compromising on style.

A full-length garment with wide vertical stripes in red, black, and white colors. The stripes create a striking visual contrast. With wide sleeves that drape elegantly from the shoulders.

The neckline is black with studs detailing, giving the impression of royalty and class. The style of the garment suggests a modern take on traditional attire, possibly inspired by African fashion designs such as Kaftans or Boubous, often characterized by their vibrant patterns and loose fit.

The use of red, black, and white could be symbolic or simply a fashion choice for its visual impact, “I think the latter is the case for this collection”.

The garment’s design however ubiquitous, is both elegant and commanding, making it a statement piece for almost any occasion.

Apart from outfit number whose model looked rather placid, other models carried their individual looks with confidence and a sense of self-assuredness, which I believe properly portrays the theme of the collection.
