Phantom Labs, a production business that collaborated with rapper, Kanye West, on numerous projects from June 2021 to March 2022, is suing him for $7 million.
The company filed a lawsuit against the 45-year-old singer on the grounds that Kanye made financial promises but never followed through.
Kanye collaborated with Phantom Labs on four episodes of his Sunday Service, a listening party for his album “Donda 2,” the Free Larry Hoover concert in Los Angeles alongside Drake, and the planning of his cancelled Coachella 2022 performance.
When Kanye withdrew out of his scheduled Coachella performance two weeks prior to the event, Phantom Labs was hit with an additional $1.1 million charge, bringing his total spending with the company to $6 million by February 2022.
Kanye and his team originally started making payments, but soon stopped, and the costs accumulated, according to the company’s attorney, Howard King.
The rapper had initially intended to pay the business with the rumored $9 million he was expected to earn from Coachella, but after withdrawing from the festival, that plan was shelved.
This comes after it was made public that David Casavant, a fashion historian, is suing Kanye for failing to return 13 of 49 items of clothes he rented in March 2020.
