Rakim Athelaston Mayers, popularly known as A$AP Rocky, a rapper from the United States, has charged with two counts of assault and possession of a firearm in connection with a shooting that occurred in California in 2021.

Rocky, who recently had a child with singer, Rihanna, is accused of pointing a gun and then firing twice in the direction of the victim, A$AP Relli, a former friend of his.

Allegations based on police records says:

“Two people were arguing in the Hollywood area of the city on November 6, 2021, when it escalated and the rapper allegedly fired a handgun. The person who was shot sustained a minor injury and sought medical treatment.”

The LA County District Attorney, George Gascón, issued the following statement regarding the situation:

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offence that could have ended with tragic consequences, not only for the person targeted, but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.”

Rocky was detained before being freed on a $550,000 bail.

He will be charged on Wednesday at the Foltz Criminal Justice Centre, and if convicted, he might spend the next nine years in prison.
