Adedamola Adefolahan, a.k.a. Fireboy DML, has admitted that his father made him sign an oath before hewas permitted to leave school and move to Lagos.
He also discussed his beginnings in music, when he worked as a studio errand boy, in an interview with Zeze Millz.
He acknowledged that his increased time spent in the studio as a studio rat was having an impact on his academic results.
He continued by saying that after some time, the people in the industry realized he could compose, and that is how he ended up being a songwriter for musicians.
He went on to say that he ultimately told his father that he wanted to leave school in his last year and move to Lagos, where he eventually signed with YBNL Nation.
He found it unexpected that his father would not object, but instead made him sign a promise to always obey him and to do anything his father wanted of him if, after two years, he did not succeed in his music career.
Although it was a challenge, Fireboy accepted it and persisted in his belief in his abilities, which eventually paid off well as he developed into a major music star around the world.
