Portable Declines Police Invitation, Court Issues Arrest Warrant

The Ogun state police command has revealed that popular Nigerian singer, Portable, whose real name is Adewale Ayuba, declined invitations for questioning by its men several times.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the singer was invited on five occasions to the police station but refused to honor the invitation.

According to Oyeyemi, Portable was invited for questioning after a report was lodged against him. “We have also sent an invitation to him through his father like two times, yet he did not show his face,” he said.

He further explained that following Portable’s refusal to honor the invitation, the police approached a court to get an arrest warrant for the singer.

“When the officers got to the place to carry out the arrest, Portable, on sighting them, stripped himself naked so as to create a scene. He isn’t above the law,” the police spokesperson added.

The news comes just a day after Portable went live on Instagram to call out some police officers for allegedly visiting his office to harass him. In the video, he claimed he was a federal government liability, worked for the ruling party, and nothing could be done to him.

The police command has, however, dismissed his claims and has called on him to honor the invitation extended to him, stating that no one is above the law.

“We are calling on him to come and clear himself of the allegation against him. We have a duty to investigate any case reported to us and we will do our job,” Oyeyemi added.
