Designed to revolutionise catering service with modern convenience, the app offers innovative features such as seamless payment and booking and a user-friendly design.

It hopes to enable food enthusiasts in seven African countries including Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, surmount the persistent challenge of finding skilled caterers within their vicinities, as it is designed to connect users with caterers nearest to them, using a map-based interface.

“Olokpo is not just about making life easier for food enthusiasts; it is also a platform where talented caterers can showcase their skills and earn a living doing what they love. Our app provides caterers with a thriving marketplace to connect with clients and earn a fair wage for their culinary expertise,” Jennifer Onose, COO, Faiken Dawn Group; an outdoor marketing firm, and Founder, Olokpo, told Allure.

She added: “Caterers can be found anywhere with the Olokpo app. Uber is already solving a similar problem in the transportation industry. At the tap of your phone and from the convenience of your home, you can identify and hire a caterer for your various needs.

“Whether you are hosting an intimate dinner party, a lavish wedding reception, or a corporate conference, Olokpo, which is Android and Apple-compliant, connects you with caterers who can deliver culinary experiences to remember. We believe that exceptional catering should be accessible to everyone, no matter the occasion.

“Measures have also been put in place for verification of caterers who seek to subscribe to the app. This includes phone number linked to their BVN (Bank Verification Number) and email verifications.

“Furthermore, we will embark on an in-house verification process through our legal team. Caterers who are not up to standard will be filtered out.”

Also announcing star Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson as brand influencer for the new app, Onose said three more influential bloggers will soon be added to the list.

Dennis Onose, Digital Marketing Lead, Olokpo, urged professionals in the catering service sector to take advantage of the opportunity offered them to grow their businesses.

“It is just like what Uber does. Olokpo is bringing customers to you within a single click. So, now, it is all about your delivery,” he advised.
