O’Saunders returns with Matamorphose

By Jemi Ekunkunbor

After a four years break from the glitz and glam of the fashion industry, Lagos-based designer Olabisi Saunders returns to the industry with a bang– the private viewing of her latest collection-“Metamorphose.”

The exhibition which took place last weekend at the Windsor Gallery, Victoria Island, Lagos, drew a cross section of Lagos fashionistas to her newest serve.

Known for her signature exaggerated sleeves and hand- painted pieces, the collection, bold and audacious is designed for the confident woman, ready to take risks, the O’Saunders woman.

Inspired by life, arts, paintings and nature, part of her metamorphoses journey translated into moving from her characteristic white pieces to infusing more colours in her creations.

The eclectic collection featured unisex bumper jackets, sheer dresses and kaftans, two piece, adire trouser suits, blouses with exaggerated sleeves and romantic necklines as well as dresses and kaftans with her signature paintings.

Paying tribute to her first love in creation–bags, the exhibition also featured a limited edition leather bags carefully curated to infuse class, taste and luxury into the event.
