Prepping for the party season

By Josephine Agbonkhese

With the festive season already upon us, and the countdown to Christmas ticking daily, that time of the year when you let down your hair— yes, the party season, has officially arrived.

From the obligatory work Christmas parties to numerous family gatherings, making sure that you are prepared for the festivities should top your list of priorities.

Be on top of the festive game this December with our carefully curated party season preparation tips.

Up your skincare game
Be aware and intentional about caring for your skin, especially since this time of the year is synonymous with extra dry and dusty weather which generally affect your skin; causing it to look dry, whitish and, sometimes, flaky. Start now to figure out a cleansing routine that works, exfoliate at least twice weekly, make a good moisturiser your best friend and ensure to stay hydrated always.

Minimise stress
If you’re not careful, this time of the year can also bring with it a great deal of stress. Minimise stress this season by doing your Christmas shopping early. Also consider shopping online to avoid the crowds in the shopping malls. To keep you looking your best throughout, regularly do things that help you relax. It will also help you enjoy partying a lot more!

Prepare the perfect outfit
Avoid late hour rush by doing your homework and getting your outfit ready before hand. Ensure you have the perfect outfit prepared in advance to save you any last minute uncertainty. Finding out the rules on how to dress— if any of your events is likely to have one, may also help.

Eat right
Stick to a healthy diet filled with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to keep your immune system up and your energy levels high. Processed foods will only lead to skin breakouts and fatigue, which is not what you want when you’re heading to a party!

Get enough sleep
Rack up as many sleep hours as you can.
Sleep is vital for your overall well-being and also helps you look better. Studies have shown that people who are sleep-deprived are more likely to have unsightly bags, wrinkles, puffy eyes, and a dull complexion compared to those who get the recommended 8 hours per night.
They are also more moody and irritable. Sure, no one can enjoy parties that way.

Book hair appointments early
As the countdown to Christmas begins, booking in soon for your hair appointment is not just a beauty luxury—it’s the only strategy that ensures your hair looks its absolute best for all the merry gatherings and photo-worthy moments. Secure your spot at your favourite salon and try not to miss your appointment when it’s time. Christmas is a busy time for everyone, and the same goes for hair salons.
