Inner Wheel Club Celebrates Children’s Day with New Oko Oba Residents

Inner Wheel Club, Gbagada-Ifako, celebrated children’s residents around Olaniyi Street, New Oko Oba, Lagos to mark this year’s Children’s Day, on May 27.

The event, which took place on the premises of MD School had over 120 children taking part in different games, song presentations and dancing competitions.

Addressing the children on the topic, “I am an important child” Inner Wheel Member Yinka Adeyemo congratulated the children, saying that the annual celebration was about celebrating the children and preparing them for the challenges of the future in an ever-changing and increasingly competitive world as future leaders.

Adeyemo highlighted the pivotal roles of children and their importance including the joy their arrival brings to their immediate families at birth. In these communities, they reside, in society and even the nation.

She also urged them never to relegate themselves as they are catalysts of growth and development and vital part of development in future generations.

“You strengthen the bond and ensure continuity of the family. You are motivators to your parents, giving them reasons to move on and strive to do better, so they can give you a better living. You are also a support system to them because as you grow older, you provide emotional support and companionship for them.

“In society, as you grow, you bring fresh ideas and energy which is important for social innovation.

IWM Adeyemo appealed to the children to continue challenging themselves by excelling in academic and co-curricular activities.

“Remember, you are tomorrow’s future leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Your smiles, laughter, and creativity inspire us to build a better world for you and generations to come,” she said.

The event’s highlight was the presentation of a pack of food items, biscuits, sweets and drinks to all children present. Mothers were not exempted; they also went home with dishwashing liquids and umbrellas.
