Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has been seen in a circulating video preparing a test batch of jollof rice in a massive custom-built pot.
The footage, which shows her surrounded by helpers and spectators, is part of her preparations for an attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The official event is scheduled to hold September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos. Baci will make her official attempt during the Gino World Jollof Festival, an event celebrating West African food, music, and culture.
Attendance at the festival will be free, and live performances are planned to mark the occasion. Baci, who gained international fame for her 2023 Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, described this project as more than just a record attempt.
In a recent Instagram post, she wrote, “Six meters wide. Six meters tall. On September 12, we make history together. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?”
