How to Make Corn Dogs

Light, with a touch of sweetness and a spicy kick. These corn dogs recipe by Dolapo Grey is simple to make and so delicious.

First of all, heat up some oil on medium low heat for deep frying. Cut the hot dogs in half. Insert the wooden skewers. If you have the long skewers, break them in half and use scissors to trim them.

Then coat the dogs with flour and set aside. Add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, black pepper, nutmeg, turmeric and salt into a bowl. Mix to combine.

You can add whatever spice and herb you like to the batter. Add one large egg and the milk.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Chicken frankfurters – 5
All-purpose flour – 1/2 cup
Cornmeal – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 2 tablespoons
Baking powder – 2 teaspoons
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper – 1/4 teaspoon
Nutmeg – 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper – to taste, optional
Curry or turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon, optional
Egg – 1 large
Milk – 1/2 cup
Cooking oil – For deep frying
