My mum took shame to ensure I had good education – Chef Fregz

Popular Nigerian chef, Gbubemi Fregene, AKA Chef Fregz has been reminiscing on how tough his past has been, and the transformation that has taken place in his life.

And one person that played a strong part in ensuring this change is his mum, Madam Rosabella Fregene.

According to the Covenant University graduate of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management, his mum took shame and sacrificed to ensure he had a good education.

In an Instagram post, he recollected how he and his mum once held each other and cried because there wasn’t school fees money when it was time for me to go to secondary school.

He added that because of all he went through back then, he used to think he would not be anything so much in life.

Here is the full text of his post:

“Serving my mum at this dinner was a reality I never foresaw. Why? You may ask. It’s because there were so many times that she would agonize deeply about how she was going to make sure I had a good education. So I used to think I would be anything so much in life. However, my mum saw to it I got the best. She had a village of family that gave greatly. .

“My mum took shame, extreme hard work, and sacrifice to ensure I had this good education.

“Fregz-Ducation is truly borne out of me being a child in need once upon a time.

“My mum and I once held each other and cried because there wasn’t school fees money when it was time for me to go to secondary school but because of the village that came together, we can share moments like this and glory of helping so many others.

“Dear God, I’m thankful for those tough years and how it’s got me/us here. The transformation, the blessing and the opportunity to make a change and it changing me too. ..”
