Singer, songwriter, Tiwa Savage hits 40!

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress, Tiwatope Savage, known professionally as Tiwa Savage is 40 today.

The award-winning-singer, who is currently in Beverly Hills, California, posted a lovely picture of herself on her Instagram page, earlier today, and wrote: “44-4 🙏🏾

Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education.

Tiwa began her music career, five years after relocating to London by doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael, Kelly Clarkson, and Mary J. Blige.

Tiwa studied Business Administration at the University of Kent, and she briefly worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland, before focusing on her music career.

A great performer, Tiwa perfected her acts by performing with international acts like the Black Eyed Peas, 50 cents, Eminem, Destiny’s child, and many others

Often regarded as the queen of Nigerian music, since returning to Nigeria in 2010, Tiwa has churned out hits after hits, especially while she was under don Jazzy-led Mavin record label.

She officially parted ways with the record label in 2019, when she signed a deal with Universal Music Group, to become one of their global artists.

In 2014, Tiwa got married to Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Tee Blliz, who was then her manager. The couple welcomed their only child, Jamal in 2015.

The marriage, however, hit the rocks in 2016 with Tunji, in a series of social media posts, accusing his wife of infidelity as well as her mother of witchcraft.

Tiwa Savage reacted by extensively addressing her husband’s lengthy social media posts regarding their marriage, in an interview with a national newspaper. She debunked her husband’s infidelity claims and accused him of financial recklessness, drug addiction, and abandonment. Moreover, she said that her marriage to him is over.

She has since moved on with her life as a singer, single mum, getting endorsement deals, and also engaging in humanitarian works.

Some of the hit songs include: “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and “Eminado”.
