Marriage should have an expiry and subjected to renewal clause–Toke Makinwa

Nigerian media personality, and entrepreneur,Toke Makinwa has shared her thoughts on the longevity of marriage, and this has set the social media agog.

According to her, marriage should have a renewal clause after a certain number of years.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, she stated that if human beings switch partners after a number of years the way animals do, there would be less hassle, less drama just a good time.

Here are some of her tweets: “I think marriage should have an expiry and subject to renewal clause after a certain number of years, like the way we renew agreements 🤣🤣🤣, people should be allowed to look back on time out in, grade themselves and hit the renewal button if they can still stand each other

“Imagine a world where we could all just switch partners after a number of years the way animals do (after a day or two), with no wahala, no stress, everybody good, do you think it’ll be better? Less hassle, less drama just a good time

“Each time I see people who’ve been married for 10 years and more, I can’t lie I respect them BIG, for holding it together and not losing it, it is a lot of work and I wish many people were more honest about that journey 😃”

Her followers have reacted with some condemning the thoughts while some agreeing.

One follower, @Ehis_Ebhos wrote: “Good thought. But the truth is, it is God that instituted marriage, and plan is for it to be forever.”

While another @OtavboruoOvie wroTe “If we apply this in not just marriages also everything that has to do with life in general then there will be so many unexplainable situations that will be happening to us. Just like the way you do business and fail and try again and end up getting it that’s how life in…..”
