Songster, Yinka Davies is 50!
Nigerian songster and actress, Yinka Davies clocks 50 today.
She was born on July 16, 1970, to a Benin/Sierra Leone Lisabi clan. Her mum is from Ikorodu.
Known to have been consistent with her love for jazz and traditional sounds, Yinka has been in the Nigerian entertainment industry for over 30 years.
Yinka didn’t get any training for her craft, it is pure talent. She made her entry into the entertainment industry via her musical influences. Her father was a guitarist.
She has collaborated with many Nigerian recording artistes such as Mike Okri, Shina Peters, Blakky, and many others, as a backup vocalist and a choreographer for their music videos.
She attended Reagan Memorial Baptist Primary School, Onike, Yaba, Lagos, for her elementary education, and Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba, for her secondary education.
Although she didn’t attend university by choice, however, she has made up for it by being informed daily.
She stated in an interview that if she studied for a degree, it would have been in Agriculture, as she would have loved to be a farmer.
She has a number of albums to her credit and has won many awards for her prowess.
