Coming To America 2: Davido To Debut In Hollywood Movie
Afropop Singer David Adeleke better known as Davido is set to make acting debut.
News Rain gathered that the Nigerian international music superstar has been officially listed among the cast in the sequel to a Hollywood 1988 romantic comedy classic: “Coming To America.”
The movie, which is set to be released on December 18, 2020, in the United States, has Davido playing a performance scene.
The music star confirmed his acting debut in a post he shared on his Twitter account. According to him, he couldn’t wait for the great experience.
He tweeted: “Can’t wait!,” While retweeting a post of the movie cast list.
The movie will be directed by Craig Brewer, screenplay by David Sheffield, Barry W. Blaustein, and Kenya Barris, based on characters created by Eddie Murphy.
Filming for the movie officially began on August 17, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Hollywood movie, “Coming to America” which was a blockbuster back in the 80s, had stars such as Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, and Paul Bates as its main cast.
It was a story of an African Prince, Akeem who against the culture of his birthplace rejected the wife proposed to her on her 21st birthday by his father, the King to travel to America in search of her own wife.
Note that Davido is a multi-talented Nigerian music star, since he hit the music scene in 2011 with his hit track “Omo Baba Olowo” he has not looked back producing award-winning songs and record-breaking albums.
In January 2019, Davido sold out The O2 Arena in London, becoming the first solo African artist to do so. He was introduced on stage by Idris Elba and performed several of his hit singles with the backing band.
Also in February 2019, his song “fall” became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history. The song was ranked at number 163 on Pitchfork’s list of the 200 Best Songs of the 2010s.
