Mbong Amata launched her career in the entertainment industry of Nigeria, at the age of 16, as a model; she was crowned as beauty queen Miss Akwa Ibom, and was second runner-up Miss Nigeria 2004. She has acted in many movies such as Black November, Forgetting June, and Inale.

She was married to Jeta Amata, also a movie maker, and they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl named Veno in 2008.

She is the founder of a record label called Bong House Media.
