Donors for Africa Foundation has announced Ghanaian-French afro-optimist Chloé Bertrand, AFRORAMA’s co-founder, as the winner of the 2023 GEDA Pitch Competition.

Afrorama is an accessible web-based general encyclopedia of the African continent. ‍It amplifies digital knowledge of African countries by providing a 360º overview of the continent through seven key categories: Arts and literature, Business and politics, Entertainment, Geography and nature, History, Philosophy and beliefs, and Science and technology.

According to the organisers, this year, over 3000 change makers across 30 African countries put in their applications for the fifth cohort of the GEDA Fellowship program.

Three finalists emerged from 12 semi-finalists across seven categories, showcasing their innovative ideas and impactful initiatives.

The finalists, comprising non-governmental organisations and Social Enterprises from South Africa, Uganda, and Nigeria, engaged in an intense showdown, each granted five minutes to pitch their transformative visions, followed by insightful 5-minute question and answer sessions with judges boasting extensive development experience in their respective categories.

Chloé Bertrand stood out among the finalists, demonstrating exceptional prowess and dedication.

As the winner, Chloé wins the cash prize money, media visibility, access to technical expert support, a coveted 1-year unpaid membership by Humentum, and numerous other awards.

Donors for Africa Foundation, an organisation dedicated to advancing equitable

“We congratulate Chloé Bertrand, whose remarkable efforts and transformative vision exemplify the spirit of innovation, grit, staying power and a commitment to social impact,” said the founder of Donor For Africa Foundation, Chidi Koldsweat.

“Her success reflects the foundation’s commitment to fostering sustainable development initiatives across Africa.

“We also celebrate all our finalists and semi-finalists who were all outstanding,” Koldsweat continued.

Donors for Africa Foundation is a catalyst for sustainable development, working with stakeholders to implement local initiatives that optimise the distribution of wealth and opportunities within Africa.
