Why I left Annie  Macaulay –  2Baba

July 1,2025

Popular Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has opened up about his separation from his wife, Annie Macaulay, after more than a decade of marriage.

The 49-year-old music icon shared personal insights into their decision to part ways during a recent episode of the 234 Mzansi Podcast, released on Monday. While he provided some context, he refrained from discussing specific details.

The couple, who married in May 2012, officially separated in January 2025 after experiencing years of ups and downs, both privately and publicly

According to 2Baba, both he and Annie did everything they could to make the marriage work, but ultimately reached a point where it could no longer continue.

“I think both of us gave it our best. The reason we’re not together today is not something I’m going to talk about publicly,” he stated. “Annie and I have our own understanding. She’s amazing; it just wasn’t working anymore. Something that used to be there is no longer present, which is why I said I won’t discuss it further.”

He also expressed the importance of trying to fix a marriage but acknowledged that if it becomes impossible to reconcile, no one should feel pressured to stay together. “It’s important not to torture yourself or let society dictate your feelings,” he advised. “Living in bondage is real, and many people have gone to their graves very unhappy.”

Furthermore, 2Baba sparked conversation with his controversial perspective on male sexuality, asserting that it is often challenging for men to remain sexually faithful to one woman. “I’ll speak for myself, but a man is not biologically constructed to be sexually exclusive,” he explained.

“He can love and respect one woman, but sexually, it can be difficult. Individuals can choose not to pursue that path, but I’m addressing the biology of men. This understanding could prevent a lot of heartache and unnecessary stress.”

In more recent developments, the “African Queen” singer has found love again with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. Their relationship was confirmed in February 2025 after 2Baba proposed, signaling a new chapter in his personal life.
