Foundation marks Int’l Charity Day with support for children in Ibadan

In commemoration of this year’s International Charity Day, B.A.O Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has provided scholarships, food items and educational materials to students as they begin the new academic session.

The event, held at the Asu Bunolai Mosque in Moniya, Ojoo, saw underprivileged children receive essential items, including writing materials, rulers, school sandals, and exercise books.

Some children living with Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) were also given scholarships to ease the burden on their parents or wards.

The gesture, according to Mr Bolaji Akeem Oladapo, the founder of B.A.O., is aimed at supporting less-privileged families in ensuring their children return to school equipped for success in life.

He revealed that the latest donation is one of the numerous gestures by the organisation, which has been going on for several years.

“We all know that quality education is fundamental to any thriving community. Usually every quarter, we try to reach out to underprivileged children by providing food items, clothing materials and other needed items. Providing these materials would help children remain focused on their education and achieve their academic aspirations.

“In the past, we also built a bungalow for ASD children in the Akingbile area in Ibadan,” she said.

On how they source funds for the projects, Oladapo revealed that it is basically self-sponsored, with support from friends, families and the Muslim community.

Oladapo reaffirmed the commitment of the organisation to doing more .
