At varying points in our lives, we’ve all had our eyeliner slips – from the mild episodes where we end up with unattractive jagged clumps to the really bad episodes where we come out looking like someone who just shed black tears. You may have tried the spoon method or the eyelash curler hack and still haven’t been able to get the perfect winged liner. Not to worry, the winged eyeliner is one tricky skill to master albeit learnable.
Read on to learn more on how to do the perfect winged eyeliner and the eyeliner products to use in order to achieve the best results!
Steady Your Hands: This is the first and most important element in getting the perfect winged eyeliner as it determines the general outcome. Be sure to rest your elbows on a flat and steady surface to get the right amount of control over your hand movements.
Start Applying Eyeliner at The Upper Lash Line: Locate your upper lash line and draw an extended line on the outer edge of your eyes. You don’t have to complete the line in one stroke, so make them short if you have to. As you break your strokes, try not to double on them. You want to start out as thin as possible and end on the same note in order to achieve a really sleek winged eyeliner, especially if your eyes are small.
Work Your Way Outwards: Gently work your way out towards the corner of your eye as you continue drawing your short strokes, you can always build up on it later. Continue with your strokes to draw a tail-like shape following the curve of your lower lid. Mildly tug at your eye from the outer corner if you need to smooth your skin out more. Lastly, fill in any openings between the winged tail and your line drawn to create a sleek and perfect winged eyeliner.
