By Linda Orajekwe
Fashion is fun because of the freedom it gives us to play with, but as we grow, we realize that while it is okay to play, it is important that we play with focus and what this means is that we use fashion to give voice to who we are and that’s where personal style comes in.
On this edition, we’ll look at things you have to check while creating a style that speaks for you.
1. Does it look like you? Creating a personal style is you making fashion represent your image so If there is one thing you want to think of, it is you. You are the centre of this creation and for that reason, whatever look or outfit you’re picking has to be something you can effortlessly picture yourself in. So being truthful to yourself, does that dress look like you?
2. What trend gets you excited? Another way to help make your journey toward creating your personal style easy is identifying if you’re swayed by trends. For some, classy and timeless does it, while for others, seasonal fashion is the way to go. So what’s yours?
3. Does it make you comfortable? Similar to the first point but not the same. Some of us can picture ourselves in looks that we will not be comfortable in. Creating a personal style is you creating your image. If you’re comfortable in your skin, you want an outfit that’ll also do that, be comfortable on your skin while your skin gets comfortable in it.
