Looks from Protest Ground

By Linda Orajekwe

On the 8th of October, Nigerian youths commenced a series of protest around the nation against the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) that has over the years, harassed and killed young Nigerians for reasons such as hairstyles, phone types, and so on.

This one-of-a-kind protest has so far, showcased the strength of young Nigerians when they are united. However, one thing we could not miss was how effortless they looked on the protest ground, from where we have selected some notable looks.

So if you’ll ever join any protest, let these looks inform your style, as they are comfortable enough to do the work, which is to protest for good quality of life, and chic enough to ensure you are serving us great vibes when caught by the lens.

T-shirt:

Nothing is more comfortable than your tees, but like Dorathy, make a statement with them and try not to rock white or bright colours if you intend to be there for long because anything can spill.

Comfortable pants:

You don’t want to get to the protest ground and start feeling uneasy after a couple of walks. So ensure you’re wearing something as comfortable as what Praise from BBNaija is rocking; functional and certainly, fashionable.

Sunglasses:

While demanding for a better quality of life, we love how protesters ensured their eyes were protected with bold sunshades.

Face cap:

Still on the sun, your face cap is a great protector. You want to make sure they’re shading your eyes and face from the sun, but this, coupled with your bandana or scarf can also add to your style and help give your hair a little umph even on the protest ground.

Sling bag:

The protest ground is one place you want to make sure you’re safe and your properties likewise; hence, a sling bag is highly recommended. This portable fashion piece should give you a safe place to store your phones, earpiece, wallet, car keys and any other valuable on you.

Sneakers:

A pair of sneakers is the perfect shoes for protest. As fashionable as you want to look, comfort is key.
