Joeboy Talks Unrequited Love In ‘Focus’ Visuals

Joeboy, Nigerian singer, has come through with the visuals for ‘Focus’, a track off ‘Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic’ (SBBM), his recently released debut album.

The 23-year-old music star announced the release of the project on his social media pages on Friday.

He noted that the lyrics were based on situations experienced by one of his producers during the making of his debut album.

‘Focus’ is a song about unrequited love and a romantic interest not being straightforward about their intentions with you.

The video opens up with a car accident followed by the scene of a graveyard where family members could be seen holding flowers and mourning a dead person.

As the video progresses, Joeboy is seen showering love and affection on his lover, who appears not to be reciprocating the gesture.

The frustrated lover boy gets into an argument with her, while in a drunken state. He angrily drives the car and eventually hits a truck parked by the roadside.

The video also sends a strong message to the public to always avoid driving when in a drunken state.

“Focus, sey me I dey try focus girl. Na you dey scatter my thinking oh and I no dey know wassup. Sey you for let me know wetin dey your mind and I go let you know wetin dey mind. So we fit both know Wetin we dey find,” he could be heard singing.

“Straight to the point make we no waste our time. Sey you no need to dey buga, you no need to dey form. And you only need to let me know if I’m the one you want…To like person no be crime and if you like person show your sign I know sey I be player those times Oh no.”

The emPawa records signed artiste has continued to pull the weight of fame in the country’s entertainment industry with strings of beautiful projects.

He has won a number of prestigious awards including the ‘Best Artiste in African Pop’ prize at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) and the ‘Best Pop’ at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
