Side effects of flogging children mercilessly at home, school – Actress Etinosa cautions
Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has taken to social media to fault the popular system of discipline where children are flogged.
In a post shared on Instagram, the actress who just welcomed her baby girl said when a child is raised to understand that the only way to correct is violence, they will grow up to exert the same violence on others.
Etinosa further called for research on new ways to discipline kids at home, school and church as flogging needs to stop.
She wrote: “When you raise your child to understand that the only way to correct is by violence, they will grow up to exert the same violence on others in the form of discipline. We need to draw a line between discipline and violence. New ways of discipline should be researched.”
Etinosa Idemudia added, “Flogging and beating children mercilessly at home, at school, at church needs to stop. These boys who beat their sisters mercilessly will also beat other people’s sisters and grow up to beat their wives. Then you say spare the rod and spoil the child. But you have been using a rod on African children for years and the society is still getting worse.”The Edo State born stated that violence increasing, morals decreasing, “So, at what stage or decadence do we realize that the road/violence method of discipline is not effective. That it only produces damaged children that grow into damaged angry violent adults.”
