Diezani Forfeited Jewellery Worth N14.4bn, Houses Valued At $80m – EFCC
Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, May 28, said that the jewellery forfeited by Diezani Alison-Madueke, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, is worth N14.4 billion.
He made the revelation while testifying before a House of Representatives committee. He said the “jewellery forfeited from the former minister has been valued by relevant government agencies and the estimated value of the jewellery is 14.4 billion naira.”
Bawa stated that the estimated worth of the residences seized and forfeited from Diezani is $80 million, adding that all assets are in the commission’s custody and have not been sold.
The House of Representatives committee is reviewing the status of all seized plunder moveable and immovable assets held by government entities between 2002 and 2020.
