Nwagbo Oliver Chidera, commonly known as Pankeeroy, the popular Instagram comedian and social media influencer, has been freed from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC detained Pankeeroy in April on suspicion of Internet fraud. Pankeeroy is accused of participating in a ‘Bitcoin fraud,’ which he claims he began after becoming depressed. He pretended to be a seller who redeems bitcoin vouchers using a site to swindle his naïve customers, according to the EFCC.

On Friday, May 28, 2021, he posted a press statement regarding his arrest on his Instagram page. There was no petition filed against him before his arrest, according to the statement issued by his legal team.

“It is worthy to state that there was no form of petition against our client and as such, implied that no crime in whatever form was perpetrated against any person(s), company, or establishment by our client,” part of the statement read.
