Iya Rainbow reveals she pleaded with Comedian Princess to drop Baba Ijesha’s rape charges
Idowu Phillips, better known by her stage as Iya Rainbow, has spoken out about actor Baba Ijesha’s rape allegations.
In an interview with BBC Yoruba, Iya Rainbow stated that when the police initially announced Baba Ijesha’s arrest, she contacted comedienne Princess and pleaded with her to dismiss the case against the actor for four days, but she refused.
She claims she tried all she could to persuade Princess not to escalate the matter, but she refused. Following Baba Ijesha’s release on bail, she claims the leadership of the Theater arts practitioners would seek a solution.
“Before the matter was settled, I asked the princess for four days not to take the matter to court. I urge her not to let this matter get louder, but she refused. Now, see how the whole thing played out,” she said.
She also emphasized that whether or not Baba Ijesha is guilty, their group must unite and reach an amicable resolution. She, on the other hand, begged for peace to prevail among all parties engaged in the case so that it might be settled.
