AGN requests support for contesting guild members

January 18,2023
Share:

Actor’s Guild of Nigeria National President, Emeka Rollas, has urged guild members to support the candidates running in the upcoming election, including Funke Akindele, Tonto Dikeh, Femi Branch, and other guild members.

Members should support anyone running for office, regardless of their political party or affiliation, Rollas continued.

He instructed members to use the campaign materials of contending members on their social media handles in a statement issued on Tuesday following the guild’s NEC meeting.

Rollas added that the action was taken to get in touch with potential voters in their neighborhoods and make sure that AGN members win the polls.

Although the AGN is nonpartisan, Rollas continued, individual members are free to take part in political campaigns and support their preferred candidates.

The AGN President said;

Funke Akindele, Tonto Dikeh, and Femi Branch are running as deputy governorship candidates in Lagos, Rivers, and Ogun respectively.

Hilda Dokubo is contesting for Federal House of Representatives in Asalga/Akulga federal constituency of Rivers.

Also, the Chairman of the National Board of Patrons of the Guild, Sen. Ned Nwoko, is contesting for Delta North senatorial position.

I urge AGN members to vote massively for members irrespective of their interest in political parties for the overall interest of Nollywood.

If we have our members in strategic positions in government, they will help move motions and pass enabling laws that will help our industry become more profitable.

It has become imperative to vote our members into power to further help the growth and development of Nollywood.
