…holds physician of year awards

In an effort to reward Nigerian medical doctors who have recorded remarkable achievements in their service to humanity, Premier Medical Systems limited has concluded plans to hold its 2023 Physician Of The Year (POTY) awards.

The event which is being organised in partnership with the medical associations is the 5th in its series and it also aimed to celebrate policy makers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and excellence in the field of medicine.

R-L): Olufunke Oluwole, Niyi Osamiluyi and Maryam Daramola at the media briefing

Speaking at a media briefing heralding the event scheduled to take place in Lagos on the 1st December, Niyi Osamiluyi explained that the awards would recognise two broad categories of awardees which include; non-voting and voting category.

Explaining further Osamiluyi who is a medical practitioner said: “The first category which is the non-voting is made up of life time achievement awards and special recognition awards. The second category comprising awards such as the physician of the year, this include physicians in public and private sector. Under the voting there will still be physician of the year diaspora and the young physician of the year.’’

The event he added would also feature special recognition awards for excellence for facilities that provide services in mother and child care, cardiovascular, surgical and oncology care.

Speaking on the impact of the awards since inception, Director Communications and Advocacy, Premier Medical Systems, Olufunke Oluwole affirmed that it has inspired and motivated medical practitioners to continue to excel in their individual practices and in the profession as a whole.

In addition, Oluwole who is also the convener of POTY said: ‘’ There is also more awareness about the awards and many physicians in the country and abroad now want to be part of it. The awardees are selected only by medical doctors, so for colleagues to vote in their members for awards shows that those selected merited such recognitions’’.
