How to Stay Fresh While Travelling
By Yemisi Suleiman
Traveling is exciting, but long flights, changing climates, and packed schedules can make it hard to stay feeling and smelling fresh. Whether you’re vacationing with friends, or attending back-to-back events, maintaining a pleasant scent can boost your confidence and leave a lasting impression. Here are some practical tips for maintaining a fresh scent while traveling:
1. Choose Long-Lasting Fragrances- Opt for eau de parfum or solid perfumes, which are more concentrated and longer-lasting than eau de toilette. Pack travel-sized atomisers or perfume wipes for easy refreshment.
2. Layer Your Fragrance – Use a scented body wash, followed by matching body lotion and then your perfume. Layering helps the scent last longer.Consider fragrance layering kits, which are compact and ideal for travel.
3. Stay Clean- Pack travel-sized hygiene essentials: deodorant, facial wipes, dry shampoo, and mouthwash. Baby wipes or body wipes help you freshen up quickly when a shower isn’t available.
4. Use Fabric Fresheners – Spritz clothes or suitcase lining with a fabric spray or scented sachets.Store a few dryer sheets or lavender pouches with your clothes to keep them smelling nice.
5. Mind Your Storage – Keep your perfume in a cool, dark place in your bag to prevent it from degrading.Seal any toiletry bags tightly to avoid leaks or mingling of smells.6. Refresh Strategically
6. Reapply perfume to pulse points (wrists, behind ears, inside elbows) and even to your hairbrush or scarf for a lingering scent.Use essential oil rollers for a quick and natural refresh.
7. Mind Your Footwear: Choose breathable shoes and rotate them to allow them to air out. Foot Spray: Use a foot spray or powder to keep your feet fresh, especially if you’ll be walking a lot.
8. Be Mindful of Your Diet Be cautious with foods that can cause body odour, such as garlic or spicy foods, especially before social events or long flights. Eat Fresh: Incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet, as they can help your body smell better.
9. Practice Good Oral Hygiene: Use mouthwash or carry mints or gum to keep your breath fresh throughout the day.
