IWD: Nkoyo Rapu to speak at Genesis House Relaunch conference

March 19,2026

Lawyer, author, and pastor Mrs Nkoyo Rapu will speak at the Genesis House relaunch conference scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026, as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.

Over 150 participants, including mental health professionals, faith leaders, NGOs, donors, sponsors, and advocates for women and girls, will gather at the event that will highlight how intentional giving, whether through time, skills, resources, or compassion, creates lasting transformation in the lives of survivors of abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.

Nkoyo Rapu, who is the keynote speaker, will be speaking on the topic “Give to Gain: Why Investing in Women Changes Everything.

In a statement by the organisers, Mrs Rapu “will explore the cost of neglect and silence, the power of timely intervention, and the societal benefits of investing in survivors. Panel sessions will focus on economic empowerment, vocational training, trauma-informed counselling, and spiritual care. Survivor testimonies will provide raw, heartfelt accounts of resilience, while spoken word performances will capture the emotional essence of the day.

Speaking on the relaunch, Pst. Toyin Bakare said, “Genesis House has always been a place of refuge, but this relaunch is about more than shelter; it is about restoring dignity and building futures. When we give safety, care, and opportunity, survivors gain healing, identity, and independence. And when women thrive, society gains stronger families, safer communities, and a more compassionate world.”

The conference will conclude with a fundraiser and relaunch session led by Chidi Koldsweat, the Executive Director of the Foundation, to mobilise sponsorships, partnerships, and volunteerism to sustain and expand Genesis House’s mission.

“As we relaunch Genesis House via this International Women’s Day event, we are reminded that giving is not charity; it is investment. Every act of support, whether through sponsorship, partnership, or volunteerism, helps us sustain a safe space where survivors can heal, rebuild, and thrive. When we give to women who have been wounded, we gain stronger families, safer communities, and a more compassionate society. This fundraiser and relaunch are not just about today; they are about securing the future of countless women whose stories are waiting to be rewritten,” Koldsweat said.

Genesis House, an expression of Freedom Foundation, provides safe housing, trauma-informed counselling, psychosocial and spiritual care, and vocational training for survivors of sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. Its mission is to restore dignity, empower women, and transform communities.
