NAIJA STYLE SKETCH

By Omonigho Aito-Imonah

The month of September marks the beginning of the fashion calendar all over the world with fashion designers showcasing new collections on runways in fashion weeks the world over. Here at Vanguard Allure, we launch our ‘Fashion Project’ by  collaborating with famed Nigerian fashion illustrator, Omonigho Aito-Imonah, other incredible designers and Da Viva fabrics to bring you a fresh take on “Naija Style” in a collection the illustrator christened “London Life, Lagos Living”. In her words, “I named the collection after famed Nigerian author, Bobo Omotayo (book of same title) to denote the relationship between sleek, minimalist European style and the Naija-Lagos vibe.”

The pieces are chic with lines and silhouettes kept simple. The pieces range from day to evening wear and include play and jump suits, cropped tops, sleek pencil skirts, full-circle skirts, sheath and floor-length dresses.

Using an ingenious mix of colourful Daviva print and hand-cut lace, she created a wearable collection for the 18 – 60 year-old Nigerian woman.
