Oscar winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o covers Vogue again

Oscar winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o is on the cover of the latest Vogue magazine, coming out in October. Unlike her past covers, this time, Lupita Nyong’o has something to say.
“I want to create opportunities for other people of color because I’m fortunate enough to have a platform to do that. That is why Eclipsed and even Queen of Katwe are so important, to change the narrative, offer a new lens on African identity,” she said to Vogue.
As the cover star of Vogue‘s October issue, the actress traveled back to her hometown in Kenya for a beautiful scenic photo shoot that also featured her family. Shot by Mario Testino, Lupita wears brightly colored printed dresses and turbans, giving a nod to her African roots. The location for this photo shoot wasn’t accidental, as the actress is promoting her new film, Queen of Katwe, where she plays the mother of real-life Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.
This is Lupita’s second October cover for Vogue.
Though the fashion is what initially caught our eye, it’s her personal narrative that strikes us the most.
