Qtaby Cruise: Three Thrones Concert Holds Sunday
By Jemi Ekunkunbor
At about 10pm the crackling sound of fire works will rent the serene evening air on the Lagos lagoon, formerly announcing the second edition of the Three Thrones Mega concert. Organizers of the show had decided to make the announcement not in a hall or at a press conference but aboard a cruise and they chose the Nire Prest boat as venue.
According to Victoria Ukong, CEO of Qtaby Events, organizers of the show, the boat cruise was aimed at “creating a platform for celebrities, media and business men to meet on a non-official, exclusive scenario, to exchange ideas, network and have fun while we use the opportunity to launch a new brand to them and the public”.
With Caribbean as dress code, guests arrived at the venue in varying, fun Caribbean outfits. They were treated to photo sessions and light refreshments as they prepared to board, kitted with life jackets by crew members of the Nire Prest.
Excitement rent the air as artists, established and up coming of the music, comedy and movie industry, as well as newsman, filed into the boat adhering to the dress code.
As the boat sailed off towards the American Embassy end of the Lagoon, comedians Uwa and Funny Bone kept guests reeling with laughter as they dished out one wise crack after the other, not forgetting to throw in the trending issue of “belonging to the kitchen, living room and other room”
DJ Nana showed dexterity on the spin as she dished out contemporary Nigerian hip hop sound, while guests treated themselves to the buffet spread out on the lower cabin.
The highlight and highpoint of the event which took place Sunday in Lagos, was perhaps, the comic relief provided by Denrele’s Co host, bread seller-turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna. Decked in a red outfit, Olajumoke who was all smiles and thoroughly enjoying herself, spoke in Yoruba and once in a while, threw in a smack of English language. Along with Denrele, they kept guests entertained.
Rap artiste, John Network was in his elements as he dished out his peculiar type of Rap to the excitement of all. His performance brought the groove on with his fans bopping their heads to the fluid flow of his rhymes.
It was truly a “Cruise and Chillz” experience for many of the Lagos crowd who needed a little escape to let down their hair and exhale.
As the boat cruised to a halt, there was no doubt that when the Three Thrones concert kicks off Sunday at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, it will be a blast.
The Three Thrones Concert is regarded as the royal of entertainment events, featuring the Queens and Kings of the music industry. This year three artistes, masters of their game are expected to headline tonight’s they are Davido, Phyno and the Queen of hip pop, Tiwa Savage.
