‘ Schooling does not make sense” -Nigerian rapper, YCee
By Patricia Uyeh
The name ”Oludemilade Martin Alejo” may be familiar to family and friends but when we mention YCee, the name rings a bell particularly for his songs like Jagaban and Omo Alhaji. In a recent interview with HipTV, the Nigerian rapper disclosed why he dropped out of school. According to YCee, he did not really drop out of school but rather he put school on hold because of his musical career. He said:
“It didn’t really make sense for me not to go for classes and then seat for an exam i’m not ready for or try to “rugged it or do the exam anyhow”
YCee is a student of Marine biology in Lagos State University but it appears his music career is a major priority. Given his lyrical prowess and melodic abilities, YCee has placed schooling on hold for now focusing on rendering more hits for his fans. Has he decided the follow the path of Tubaba, Wizkid and the likes who drop school to pursue their music career?
YCee was nominated for the category of ‘next rated’ at the Headies 2016 and recently got signed to Sony Music.Ycee is currently signed to Tinny Entertainment.
