Miss France, Iris Mittenaere has emerged the winner of Miss Universe 2016 beating 86 contestants. First-runner up was Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier while Miss Columbia Andrea Tovare became second runner up.
The 23-year-old Iris is a Parisian native from France studying Dental Surgery. She plans to use the Miss Universe platform to push for oral and dental hygiene all over the world. Mittenaere won the judges over at the Q & A where she had glowing words for France’s refugee population and open borders; “In France, we want to have the most globalization that we can, we want to have the biggest exchange of people that we can” she answered
The top 13 finalists were Miss Kenya, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Colombia, Phillippines, Canada, Brazil, France, Haiti, Thailand and USA.
American comedian and actor, Steve Harvey once again hosted this year’s pageant. You would recall his mistake last year when he declared the wrong contestant Miss Universe and then had to retract the announcement minutes later.
This time around, he did not make the same mistake.
