Over 60 cities across the globe recently celebrated the No-pants Tube Ride day to the disdain of some and the enjoyment of the numerous participants, who thronged their cities’ transport systems with only their upper torso covered, while their lower half was on full public display.
This day was first celebrated in New York in 2006 with seven members riding the tube pant-less, ten years on, the fad has spread to countries like Germany, Czech Republic and The UK, proving the trouserless train ride is still alive and well.
Although, the No-pants tube ride has become a ritual, every January, it never fails to stir strong emotions in both the supporters of the day and those oppose to it.
According to the organisers, participants may wear coats, hats, scarves, socks, shoes and underwear – but strictly no tights, leggings or upper leg coverage of any kind.
Organisers added: “Our aim is to make people laugh, not p*ss them off.”
