The Lagos Police Command through the Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, has confirmed that Nollywood film maker, Seun Egbegbe and former boyfriend of popular Yoruba actress, Toyin Aimakhu, will appear in court today for one-count charge of theft of nine iPhone handsets, despite being in detention for attempting to dupe a local Bureau De Change operator of N10M in hard currency on Thursday February 2nd.

The Lagos PPRO confirmed that the film producer is still in detention since he was arrested for the forex scam at Gbagada General Hospital days ago and will be made available to appear in court for his previous case of theft at Computer Village, Ikeja in November of last year.
“Yes, he is still in our custody. The police will produce him to the court tomorrow (today), concerning the earlier case,” she said.
“We have many people coming up with evidences that he has done the same thing to them in the past and that is what informed our decision to still hold on and we are doing a lot of investigation. Yes, he will still be in detention till we conclude our investigations, we have sought the court consent on that,” she added.

Egbegbe, was arraigned before Magistrate Aje Afunwa on a one-count charge of stealing in November and granted a bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum by the presiding Magistrate, who adjourned the matter to February 8, 2017 for hearing.

Meanwhile, the Bureau de change operators at Gbagada market say, Egbegbe had defrauded them in the past.

Sources at the forex market told Allure Vanguard that it was not this first time, that, it would be his fourth time he would be duping operators at the market.
“He has visited our market several times with different groups of people,” said one of the leaders in the market. “The first time he went into Tantaliser, pretending to be the manager and he duped our people. The second time he went into one hospital beside GTB at Gbagada here, he did the same thing impersonating the manager. The third time, he did it on the street and collected money and he disappeared. And the fourth time he went to the General Hospital, at Gbagada, impersonating the MD, Dr Lawal. He pretended as if he was treating a patient laying down on a bed, it was at that point he called our man, we don’t know how he got his number, he called him to say he had some dollars to sell in his office. Thereafter he tried to escape with the money. What he does is that, he picks on different people at different times, so, he was not really known except by the people he has duped.”

The source who doesn’t want his name in print told Allure Vanguard he is still in detention at Federal SARS, Ikeja.
“He has been at SARS Ikeja since that day, since February 2nd. Different people are coming to report their own cases. It is not only our case he is now facing, people he had duped are coming to identify him and tell their stories. People are not only coming from Lagos State, they are coming as far as Ogun state and Edo States. And everybody that came to the police station are confirming he is the same man that duped them,” he added
