Former captain of the Ivory Coast national team and top goal scorer, Didier Drogba has made history as he becomes the first player to play in a club he owns.
Having turned down offers from several big clubs in England, China, Brazil and Mexico, the football star is now the co-owner of Phoenix Rising FC.
The skillful player hopes to build on American’s growing interest in football and to guide his club into American’s major league soccer by 2020.
According to Mirror UK, Didier said;
“I don’t think there’s been another player and co-owner, but this shows you how things are changing, how the league is changing and how football is becoming attractive. And I’m really happy to have chosen this.”
