Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly called Ruggedman a.k.a Ruggedman Baba, the controversial rapper, who made waves during the 90s, and who is also a businessman, in a recent chat, spoke about his music career.
According to the ” Ehen” crooner, his staying power in the industry is connected to his urge to succeed. He also added that he is among the pioneers of hip-hop in Nigeria.
He said:
“What has kept me is the fire to do what I do, the love for what I do and the fire to succeed with what I do. You don’t have to come out and blow up like that and… I’m not doing a flash in the pan thing.
I’d rather move gradually, build my brand from the ground up so it becomes a household name. Just like the name Ruggedman has become a household name, because you can’t talk about Nigerian hip hop without mentioning Ruggedman.”
