Meet couple who bear names of back-to-back hurricanes, Harvey and Irma
An elderly couple, Harvey and Irma Schluter have discovered the back-to-back hurricanes, which wrecked havoc in America and the Carribeans in recent times shared their names.
According to the New York Times, the couple,who have been married for 75 years have never witnessed a storm in their lives and are amazed how the recent hurricanes got named after them,“I don’t know how they’ve done that, to have a Harvey and Irma,” Mrs. Schluter said. “I don’t know how that worked out.”
Apparently, the The World Meteorological Organization is said to annually rotates six alphabetically-arranged lists of 21 names — alternating male and female — for Atlantic tropical storms, so each moniker theoretically could be repeated every seventh year.
The couple live in Spokane, in eastern Washington, U.S.
