Allure Features: Horrible wedding day stories you must read
By Rita Okoye
If you are fan of Nigerian movies, you would have come across the Blockbuster movie, The Wedding Party.
Have you? What comes to your mind when you see, Rapper Ikechukwu who played BankyW’s Bestman in the multiple award winning movie? A spoiler right?
He got drunk and played the wrong video at the wedding reception, indicting the groom.
Yes, that’s just one of the horrible experiences some couples had to deal with on their special day.
When it comes to weddings, you pray the sun shines, your hair doesn’t frizz and that those awkward family members will just get along for one day, but, it turns out there’s a lot more you should be concerned by when it comes to loved ones.
Here are wedding horrible experiences gathered by Allure Vanguard..
“A day to my wedding day, we forgot some essentials. So, I had to pick a bike to the market, but on our way back, we had an accident. I couldn’t wear my shoes. I was on a flat slippon.
All the swag I had planned to display that day was gone. I was in pains throughout. Couldn’t dance too”- Stella, 35.
“Most of us have been drunk at a wedding, but there’s a line, right? At a recent one, the bride’s sister spent the evening downing shots and falling over and over. Luckily, the bride didn’t find out till the wedding was over” Vicky, 28
“My partner and I ended up being two hours late for our wedding, due to traffic congestion. The priest in charge left the altar and went back inside. He refused to conduct the wedding. We had to wait a while, snap photos and proceeded to the hall. Then refixed another day for the blessing of the marriage. But it this time, it was at 5.30am Morning mass.” Lillian, 37.
“I’ll never forget the speeches at one wedding, where the best man revealed that the groom had lost his virginity behind some bins at a hotel. He explained every small, cringeworthy detail, and it was agonising to watch the bride forcing a smile throughout. It took the MC smartness to cut him off…obviously he had too much to drink before his speech..” Chika, 31.
“I have been to a wedding where the caterer brought in food by past 6pm. She met an almost empty hall. People left angry. At a point, the bride started crying”, Darlington, 28.
I could recall what happened in my uncles wedding. After the church wedding, his bestman called the caterer, since he was the one that and contracted them. The cook asked ‘Na today be the wedding”?
It was a very messy situation. Luckily my mum had her own cook and she cooked too. But the food couldn’t go round. They ended up serving only those they know, “Kingsley 33.
