How to keep warm during rainy season

July 29,2018

If you are prone to catching a cold easily, then it is time to ditch your sleeveless shirts because the rainy season has begun! It is best to be ready, know what outfit to wear as the weather is unpredictable.

And contrary to thoughts that one cannot look good and keep warm this season, it is very possible to look stylish and stand-out still. All you need are these minor tips on how to stay warm and dry from head to toe.

Keep an umbrella handy

Most people don’t fancy the idea of rain coats, so the best way to keep you and your clothes dry and warm is to use an umbrella when the rain pours. You can get a trendy, stylish colour of umbrella which goes with most colours of the clothing in your wardrobe.

Bring only what is important

Avoid bringing unnecessary items with you especially when you’re commuting. Carrying too many items can get a bit overwhelming considering you have to hold your umbrella, too.

Fanciful sweaters to the rescue

You could also get fanciful sweaters/cardigans or a nice blazer, a long sleeved shirt, with a good pair of snickers or shoes-on-the-go, to enable you to achieve the business casual look and give you mobility.

Perfect chance for layers

A classic move to stay warm in the cold is to dump multiple layers of clothing onto your body. You can pick several pieces that accentuate each other perfectly. A plain top with your choice of bottoms, plus a colourful jacket would have you good to go. Throw on a scarf to tie the whole look together.

Wear waterproof shoes

Flood easily builds up when it rains, so wear shoes that you wouldn’t mind getting stained and soaked. Or wear waterproof ones like jelly shoes or sandals. Also, the floors are extra slippery when wet so wear shoes that are slip-resistant.

Wear dark colours

Its general knowledge that black radiates heat. Besides mud stains and rain water is most visible on light colours. So, go with black coloured dressing and other dark colours

Take something extra

There’s nothing worse than wet, soggy socks and drenched shirts. Remember to keep extra shoes, socks, and clothes in your bag in case any of those get wet

Denim

Denim is an all-around, classic fashion piece. It’s always on trend and will always be a reliable go-to item. A denim jacket can go with just about everything, with the added advantage of keeping anyone warm and snug. As for having them as bottoms, opt for cropped denim jeans.

Refrain from wearing materials like leather and suede because they are vulnerable in the rain.
