Yesterday, the centre of excellence – Lagos state played host of French president, Emmanuel Macron. He was accompanied by the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to the New Afrika Shrine founded by afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti at the state’s capital, Ikeja.

During his visit, President Macron danced to afrobeat songs from Femi Kuti, the son of the Afrobeat legend. It was also a good time for him to bond with Nigerian celebrities particularly those in the entertainment industry such as Banky W, Mo Abudu, Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Alexx Ekubo, Ramsey Nouah, desmond Elliot, Lala Akindoju, Kunle Afolayan amongst others.
The French president obviously left with fond memories of the occasion with the level of entertainment, collaboration and interaction achieved during his visit. To top it all, Macron was also presented with a potrait painted by an eleven-year-old boy, Kareem Olamilekan, who drew him on the spot within a space of two hours .
Our Nigerian celebrities ‘turned up’ en masse and of course, they just did not go to mark attendance, they also went to represent the country and make a fashion statement.
Check out 11 best looks from the New Afrika shrine event yesterday:
