Ooni launches Book for Queen Moremi, Honours Amosun

The ancient town of Ile Ife, the Osun State capital came alive last week Saturday when Royals, top Government officials and other eminent personalities particularly from the South Western States gathered to uphold the legacies of the Legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro of the ancient and historical city of Ile-Ife.
The event was the official book launch of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro held in honour of Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun, wife of the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
The book published by the global heritage Ambassador of Moremi Ajasoro legacies Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, eulogizes the virtues of Queen Moremi Ajasoro, while celebrating the sacrifice the princess made for the people of Yorubaland.
The 80-page book, written in both English and Yoruba languages, according to the Ooni of Ife Oba Ogunwusi, “is aimed at reviving our rapidly vanishing history and culture.”
Speaking during the book launch, the Ooni Ogunwusi stated that the attributes of Moremi, exhibited by the wife of the Ogun State governor, Mrs. Amosun compelled him to dedicate the book to her and also proclaimed her as the Moremi of Yorubaland. Ogunwusi said “Mrs. Amosun’s inherent attributes of empathy, selflessness, humility, and commitment to the course of Moremi”s legacy awarded her the dedication of the book.”
He noted that she has contributed in no small measure to the success of her husband, a feat which was famous with Queen Moremi.

Earlier, while addressing the gathering, the chairman on the occasion, the Olugbon of Ile Igbon, Oba Olusola Alao stated that it is time for women to be actively involved in government as Moremi had set the pace centuries ago. “Moremi, through her historical feat stood for justice and liberty. This is a clarion call that women should be involved in governance in our nation.”
In her speech, Mrs. Amosun thanked the Ooni for the great honour and promised to continue to do her best in the upliftment of the Yoruba land while keeping the culture alive.
According to the global heritage ambassador for Queen Moremi Ajasoro (QMA) brand, Aderonke Ademiluyi Queen Moremi Ajasoro initiative was established by the Ooni as part of the House of Oduduwa Foundation.
“As the custodian of Yoruba culture, Oba Ogunwusi is committed to the promotion of the rich narrative of the legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro of which he has demonstrated in various ways of keeping alive her rich legacy.”
The event held at the Oduduwa Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife was spiced with cultural performances by the Arike Royal Dance troupe and others. Here are some personalities at the event.
